What next???!!?!?!?!

I was strolling through the local grocery store, in the baking goods aisle and low and behold guess what I laid eyes on..............

....................

....................

Pecan Pie in a JAR!  A JAR!  I did a double check.  Yep, there it was in a clear Ball Jar marked PECAN PIE.  I guess you just open and pour contents into a pie shell and bake.

No I didn't buy this.....no self respecting Southern Bell would dare make Pecan Pie from a JAR!  Are you kidding me?

Damn, I shoulda checked the price on it....have you noticed how much pecans are costing these days?  Even our Sunday Rag had a column about that.

My Nanny has 2 pecan trees, and every 2 years we get a great crop.  I can remember me and my Papa would crack them and pick em out for pies and cakes or just general eating.  They sure do stain your hands.

My Granny would sugar them.....now THAT'S good stuff.

(And YES I say Peeeeeeeeeeee Can - not pecahhhhn.  Hubby gets a kick outta that.....peeeee can.  Cracks him up.)

Does this discovery of mine mean we are getting more and more close to becoming like the cartoon characters "The Jetson's" with their push button food server and robot maid and grooming devices?

Wow!

I say Pacahn and no Southern Belle should ever be caught with a jar of anything that makes baking easy.  It should all be from scratch!  I have two Pacahn trees too.  Yummy.

Pecan pie in a jar? Good Lord what's next? Frozen complete pies that you just throw in the oven ? LMAO  Our dear neighbor planted 2 pecan trees and wouldn't you know they hung over in our yard, so we were blessed with many many pecans.AND squirrels. OMG.  The year the squirrels ate into our attic and took up residence was our own personal nightmare.  Those neighbors moved and the people who moved in chopped down the trees.  I was kind of glad.  A lot of the squirrels moved on to a better neighborhood. LOLOL

I read a recipe the other day for a cake where it called for pecan pie filling. I wondered about it myself if it was actually put out as a filling and now you gave me my answer. I was thinking maybe a person had to make a filling for pecan pie and use that LOL. Hugs, Helen

Some things should never be reduced to a jar or a box.  That's just wrong.

I saw they have 7 layer bars (Magic Cookie Bars) in a box.

Sad, but I guess someone, somewhere will enjoy it.

Pie in a jar.  Hmmm.  Sounds like another someone trying to produce and package "country cute and taste all in a jar?"  LOL.  Did they put a ribbon on it too?  Let me guess, red or blue plaid?  Now I suppose we could make some money doing that but u are right, true southern belles would not do that.  I bet you sound so cute saying Pee Can.  I admit I say Puh-cahn.  My sister Gina says Kentucky is the gateway to the south.  Aren't ya glad I'm still gonna be part southern belle?  That makes us like almost blood sisters girl!!  Everyone in KY has a really strong accent.  Maybe I will acquire a little more than the ya'll I finally started saying when I was in Texas.  It took me a long while just to allow myself to let slang into my life.  LOL.  Hugs,
Lisa
