Hi 5's

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in Robin's (see my sidebar) comment section.

LET'S PLAY!!!

1.  It's summertime and pretty much hot all over.  What is the hottest day you can recall? Each 4th of July is so very hot and humid and so is Labor Day.  One Labor Day it was so hot Tom almost had a heat stroke.  The hummidity here is aweful, even the ocean breeze gets hot!

2.  How do you keep cool in the summer? Pool? Beach? Other?

Some days it's the beach, some days it's just plain old sitting inside with the AC cranked up.  Now this summer we're getting a pool...so we'll see how that works.  Lemonaide, cold beer, ice pops, pineapple mmmmmm.

3.  Do you prefer to be sweating on a hot summer day or shoveling snow on a cold winter's day?

A Southern Belle does NOT sweat! I hate to perspire! But I love the summer time.  So much you can do in the summer even if it is hot, jump in a lake or pool or the ocean, eat cold watermelon, run through a sprinkler, celebrate my birthday and fireworks......you can keep yer stinkin shovel.

4.  What did summer mean to you as a kid?

Summer was VBS when I was young, and hanging out at the beach or pool as I got older.  Clean your room & finish your other chores on Saturday BEFORE you can do anything or go anywhere =(

5.  If you could be anywhere else right now where would you be?

I wanna be on an all expense paid vacation to some place tropical.

Happy Anniversary, again, I hope!

HappyAnniversary.gif

It was 4 years ago today....4 pm.  After 5 years together I had said to Tom "piss or get off the pot" LOL.  So that was my official proposal.    Here's a little bit of history.........

We met in October 1997.  I know it was October because the Yankees were in the playoffs.  Tom's best friend from NY lived here, had a deli behind our store, and had invited my parents and me to a steak dinner at his house.  Tom was there.  He was now a permanent NC resident.  I remember the brightness in his eyes and smile (later to realize WHY).  It was not love at first sight.  Tara was 9 months old.

A couple of weeks later, I went into J's deli (now in the city) and lo and behold he was there talking.  I struck up a conversation with them and went my merry way.  But I kept coming back just to catch him there.  Tom shared things with me from his heart and past that he didn't have to.  We were not an "item" but we were getting along.

GJ-HappyAnniversary01.gif

We finally concreted a real live FIRST DATE to be December 13.  The day came and no Tom......his mom had passed away and he had gone to Florida.  I tease him that she messed up our first date.  Then I tell him that the only reason she was able to "let go" was that she somehow knew that now he was in good hands.  I never met the lady...I wish I had known her.  Two weeks went by before we connected again and this time we had the real first date.  And YES, I seduced him....took him back to HIS place and basically said "drop em". LOL!

He moved in with me in April 1998.  He became Dad to Tara and has treated her like she was his own ever since.  We had trials and troubles...Tom was so wanting to rid himself of his own demons, it was a tough haul.  This is why it surprises me when we're back in court for another DUI.

anniversaryjoke.gif

In 2002 I started putting it to him that we needed to make some solid arrangements....Tara was beginning to question things, my family (the southern babdisst) were itching.  It was time to do something.  He is one for tradition, so he bought a ring, took me to dinner, presented me with flowers and I said YES.

We set a date of June 29th...now where?  Myrtle Beach at a cute wedding chapel.  Now who to invite?  34 family & close friends drove in to witness and then we went over to Chestnut Hill Restaurant for dinner.  Tom's Dad & baby brother, his girlfriend and her daughter, my parents, brothers & SIL, Jimmy & wife.  Then back to the hotel..............

awwwwwwwwwwww

It actually does get better each year.

Court delayed...again

Well, Mr Man was in a picklePickle  going to the courthouse this morning.  Of course he was dreaming up the worst of the worst, thinking this was D-Day! and all.  But the attorney (who happens to be a friend of mine) was able to put it off until August 28th.  (Whew)  Now we don't have to deal with the wicked judge of the east, my pretty!

cookingSo he picks up Chef Tara from cooking school...she made s'mores, chocolate pie, apple/raisin french toast and nachos....woo hoo!  She is loving this and quite frankly so am I.  Too bad they load kids down with homework or I know who would be cooking dinner from now on!cooking

Now, tomorrow is my anniversary and I haven't done one thing about it.....Mr T bought me a gift (I know it's so, because I was with him) and this is the first year that he's ever done so.  Guess I'll take him out to dinner.....I did buy him a NYGiants beer coozie, romantic huh?  I'll come up with something....maybe........

sandsmiley.gif  We've been talking about a pool.  Today I jump his case cause he's all talk..sitting around with fingers, nevermind.  Anywho, I'm all in a huff fussing cause he's just talking and I say to him "well you're home all day all the time YOU can make some calls".  You know what he had the nerve to ask me?  Grrrrr

Next call I get from him he's telling me that my stepDad is coming through the field with the blade to level out the back yard area where we wanted to put the pool.  AND that he's already talked to my fireman brother about the water. AND that the lady at the pool place said (in Bob Barker's voice) "come on down"......so the ball is in my court now.  $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Two blondes living in Oklahoma were sitting on a bench  talking........ and one blonde says to the other, "Which do you think is farther away..........Florida or the moon?"

The other blonde turns and says,

"Helloooooooooo, can you see Florida...?????"

Playing Robin's "5" Game

Here I go in my attempt to answer 5 questions!

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in ROBIN'S comment section.

LET'S PLAY!!!

1. Where do you plan on spending the fourth of July?

We should be down by the Cape Fear River watching the display from the battleship, down by the corner of Butt and Ugly.

2. Tell us about a memorable 4th for you.

I remember Tara's first 4th of July Fireworks...she was just 7 months old.  I took her down to Carolina Beach where she just stared up saying "oooooooh".  She also messed up an outfit at dinner before and I had to stop and buy one to change her into.

3.  What screams independence day to you?

The flag, Lee Greenwood singing "Proud to be an American, military uniforms, watermelon, HOT WEATHER,fireworks, FREEDOM and family.

4. If you could tell a military person anything what would you say?

Thank you, I know the sacrifices you and your family have made and we can never repay you or give you back the time and memories you have lost with your family.  This I can say to my hubby who is aVietnam Vet, my step Dad xNavy man, my Brother who did not fight but went in as the first Sand War started 1991, and my friend Tom who just came back from Iraq.

5. Have you put out anything red, white and blue or do you plan too?

YES indeed...hubby insists on flying the USA colors all the time and he likes the buntings too.  Besides, it's my birthday celebratory week and I'm in high spirits.

Thanks for playing and God Bless America!

Tuesday Two

Escape.jpg

Well, it's not looking all that great for Tom in court tomorrow.  He talked to the atty who said "SHE" was on the bench...the WICKED one.  Plus they may not be able to continue it to a time when there's a better judge because the arresting officer is on his way to be one of the big hat boys....State Trooper.  Looks like this thing may happen tomorrow so Barney can be here.  IF it doesn't go as wanted, T's atty will appeal, but that could land T arrested again, and I'd have to post bail, again, (or leave him there 6 months, hmmmmmmmmmmm).  Hopefully if this happens I'll ask for the unsecured bond.  Tom has never been a flight risk anyway.

Maxine

Dramaville........and I am Queen.  Needless to say the King is not happy.

But the Princess, on the other hand, is a chef extraordinairre!  Today the goodies were peanut butter cookies with sprinkles, apple/banana muffins and a breakfast casserole of bagels on the bottom, onions, bacon and egg mix(flour etc) on top with cheese.  This is to chill overnight and be baked in the AM.

Yet here we sit at 6:45pm and we're clueless about dinner!

Tuesday Toodles

......to Barbara & Rick (mastersBlynn/Confessions of an Angel Waitress)  Da big 25 I do believe...man, can you fathom it?  If you haven't met her yet, sneak on over to her journal and give it a whirl...she's cool.

Funny thing is my anniversary is Thursday.  Tom & I have been married 4 years on the 29th....been together now 9 yrs.  Wow, time flies when.....

Miss T is at day 2 of cooking class.  It sure smelled good when I went in this morning.  They were preparing for a breakfast casserole for Wednesday morning.  Yummmmmmmm.

in the rain

So I see I'm not the only one having troubles with Journals today.  Let's hope this one posts.  Trying to get around to everyone, but waiting on AOL.  I see my dear friend Lisa (Avon & Adventures from Fla) has gone private....=(... she is such a great writer and friend.

gavel

Tomorrow is Tom's day in court.........thing about this is the place he was "spotted driving" is about 2.5 miles from where he was stopped.  And he was already stopped and out of the truck when 3 cars came upon him, plus there is a hedge and our windows are tinted and, well, you get the picture....he's looking for loopholes of course.  And if this is the case, then the cop really does not have concrete "proof".  Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I have mentioned that I live and work in Dramaville, NC, USA.

the rain

Every since Saturday nights outing, I have been suffering with what feels like indigestion, only it is not getting better.  Time for some kickin meds I guess....caffiene doesn't help, but too bad.  Cafe ole!  And it is still raining here...off and on.

in the rain

Today is s'pozed to be a big rainfall too.  It seems to be all up the east coast.  Just talked to Linda in Jupiter Fl and  have heard from NY that it's raining......geeesh!  Good for the garden, bad for the hair!

Flamingo RainI'll be back later!......Sharon

Kids are Awesome!!

Wow is the word of today.  Miss T completed day one of Kid's Cuisine.  She wouldn't shut her mouth once we left the school.  They had just finished baking Sugar Cookies.  The first thing they did was peel potatoes for a Ham & Potato casserole (yummmmmeeeee); then they made a Blintz (with sugar, flour, cottage cheese, sour cream, egg) delicioso!;  while that was baking they made a no bake cheesecake with cherry topping.  I was blown away by the recipes they let these kids follow.  It was a group effort, with one cracking eggs while one stirs the dry stuff etc......I am so pleased with this course.

Tara decided against the Hip Hop camp for this week.  So I said, "No camp, no signing up for hip hop; sticking with Acro, ballet & jazz".  I didn't want to let her out of this camp because she had already signed up and committed to do it.  But her heart really wasn't in it, so what's a Mom to do?

Once TnT were home, they informed me that Nanny had picked and shelled and cooked the first pickins of the speckled butterbeans and fried some chicken.  Yummmeee again.  Complimented the potato/ham casserole and blintz very well, with a cheesecake for dessert.  If my kid keeps cooking like this, OMG, fuggetabowd da diet........

On to another Kid making special news.  My FLA girlfriend's daughter, Lexi, got her very own review in today's Tampa Bay paper.  WTG LEXI!!!!  She's gonna be a big star someday, she's already singing at Legend's Field for the opening of games and doing theatre (notice it's theatRE not theatER).  I'll be saying "I knew her when..." someday.

Finally A Night Out!

Well we finally got a night out on the town.  OK so it wasn't too much.  TnT & I took my Mom, Nanny, StepDad out to my favorite SUB/Pizza joint (ha ha Lanny)  Delicioso.  They have great cheeseburgers, mom got the lasagne, I of course got my steak n cheese, Miss T opted for the pizza sub.  Yummmmmmmmy

Miss T got a last minute call to go over to her friend's house for the night!  HELLO, can someone say I"m outta here?!!!  So Mr Man and I head to our favorite dueling piano bar downtown, Rum Runners.  Oh how I love this place.  I've been known to close it down alone!

My favorite piano guy is always playing.  Well, 90% of the time, unless he books a special gig.  But he said for this summer it's just him and 2 other players....yikes!  That's a lot esp when he sings too and last night his throat was scratchy from Friday night.  Here's a picture of me with Danny.

Me & Danny

Tom was saying to him that my birthday is in 10 days so....I said NO, I want a private party!!!!  =)  Just look at his cute, young self and you KNOW why I'd want a private party........mmmmmmmm.  He's always happy to see me...he should be, I'm usually tipping him real well, buying him Jaeger shots and slipping some denero in his pocket.  Tonight I said would you pleeeeeeez do "Ants Marching" (Dave Matthews for those who don't know it) and he said Oh yeah....he is awesome.  He does the singing and plays the fiddle in this song.  Another fiddle song he does is "Devil Went Down To Ga" and the guys auction it up to $40 before they'll do this one.  It tires Danny out!  I love a sweaty man!

Tom of course loves to go and watch the young girls....as an old fart, I guess this is a high light for him.  There are usually 2 or 4 brides in here with their bridesmaids for a night out.  One was so plastered she was on the floor, I just knew she'd puke any minute.  One guy had a 50th birthday celebration and they made him sit on the piano while they played their rendition of "Itsy bitsie, teenie weenie for a peenie".

Any way back to Tom & the girls...he strikes up a conversation with these girls and it just makes his day cause they talk to him and don't brush him off like he's some kind of pervert.  He always says "I have a daughter your age ...."  yeah this is JUST what they wanna hear, you dirty old man.  But that's OK, cause these girls get him all pumped up and normally when we get home....................

OK you get the drift.

Tom & Sharon

Well, before going home, I reminded Tom that my lil bro was having a party at his house.  So we stopped by, only to find out he wasn't there.  His house was fully of teeny ager wanna be's and if by chance a pic of my boobs happen to show up on MySpace, well lemme explain.  Ya see, the guys were playing beer pong, where you toss the ping pong ball into the cup at the other end.  So....I bent over and tugged on my shirt to give them a little better aim....one guy took a picture.  Tom said how sad it was they didn't even hit their mark.

Lil Bro was around the corner at the local bar.  It's about 1am and I sneak up behind him and he yells out an "oh shit" surprise to see me.  It was all in all fun.  It was his friend, Larry's, birthday so you can imagine they were a "happy" bunch.  Closed this place down at 2am, took lil bro home and headed home myself.  Man I was so wanting a bologna sandwich.  Tom said "I can't believe you want a nasty Oscar Meyer bologna sandwich".  But it was tasty.  Off to bed I went.....wow, no Miss T, house is quiet, until.....................

 .....thank you girls!

I slept till 1pm....geeesh, I hate when I do that!  Wastes my day!  Today is just a lazy day, waiting on Tara to come home.  She & her friend have gone to see "Cars" and she should be home soon.  She starts "Kids Cuisine" tomorrow and she is sooooooooo excited.  9-12they'll be learning measurments, sifting, etc...she can already make brownies and cakes on her own, but I think this will give her a big confidence boost.  It'd better, I'm paying dearly! LOL!!!

Cripes....the washing machine is done............ttyl!!!!

Ramblings

MaxineIT.jpg

I love Maxine....she's my hero!  Says what she means and means what she says!  Pretty much on the mark too!  This is how I'm feeling these days.  Oh yes, and don't tell me differently!  The beached whale pictures of 2 weeks ago proved it!  Plus I don't feel my best at all.  I've got to get my weight under control.  (But I love my Sundrop and I don't want to give it up.....=(....and pasta, I'm married to an Italian!)

I've said it before, I can walk the mall or the beach.  So why am I not doing it?  Why am I sitting around doing nothing?  GET OFF YER ARSE SHARON!

butterflyborder.gif

Whew, ok, now that's outta my system!  I had the most enjoyable conversation last night with Barbara (confessions of an angel waitress).  She is truly and angel.  This gal's got it going on....awesome son, hottie hubby, glorious singing voice.  She & Rick's anniversary (25) is coming up this Tuesday.  Imagine....25 years with the same person.  That is to be celebrated!      My anniversary is next Thursday.  4 years of wedded bliss, 9 years together and I still love this guy.  He makes me laugh, he makes me angry; he's good to my kid and he cooks!  What more could I want?

diamonds2go.gif          Here's a hint Tom & Rick!  Hehehehehe.  What am I thinking?  It would take a BOULDER to get a guy to take a hint!

Lisa Jo / Damaged Goods (not!)....girl.....I'm so glad you are home.  Focus on getting better, chillin, playing with the pups.  We are all so glad to hear from you.  J-land is not the same without you that's for sure!

AND....everybody say it with me..............

to Ellen (Private) on Sunday.  Drop her an email (eml625) and wish her a happy day!  She is one grande dame!

Now.  This house.  OMG!  Today is the day I said I'd get busy.  The spots, hell they're not spots, the huge black patches of fingerprint dust on Miss T's carpet are still there.  Last week I bought the pre-mixed OxyClean and worked on one of them (12"x12") and it worked pretty good.  I'm gonna go in today and work it some more.  Didn't want to over do it, ya know, not knowing how the Oxy would react to the BLACK stain and the carpet.  So far so good........

Laundry, geesh Louise!  It's like a fungus...grows and grows and I STILL don't have anything decent to wear.  (See the first entry above)  Shoes....now Amanda (Trickytricky) has some shoes, but mine are all over the house.  Easy pick up you say?  HA!  Not my shoes.  Gotta have a decent place to put them once they're outta the way.  And would you believe my suitcase is STILL in my car from the beach trip (???).  It's mostly full of sheets and towels.  I did do the laundry before we left there.  See what I mean about the first entry of the day??? GET OFF YER ARSE!!!!

Thanks for letting me rant and ramble!  Getting outta this 'puter chair now.....now where'd I leave my Sundrop???????

my collect of sundrop cans      mmmmmmmmm mmmm sundrop
