THANK YOU!

God is so good.....it is very comforting to know that J-land is such a great prayer chain.  I thank each and everyone for lifting us up during my StepDad's procedure.

What was to be a simple heart cath turned into emergency bi-pass surgery.  From what we were told we were very lucky.  He had a stent put in about 8 months ago and when they went in the artery the stent collapsed!!

They were able to hold it open with the balloon pump but that wasn't cutting it!  A specialist came in and determined the best thing to do was the surgery.  I don't even know how many passes they ended up making.

He had bi-pass surgery 17 years ago....it is amazing that it has held up this long esp since he's a smoker, loves sausage biscuits and greasy cheeseburgers!

He and Mom were at the hospital at 5:30am.....by 12:30pm they were beginning the bi-pass.  It took a very long time to get to the heart because of scar tissue.  I am told that a lot of times the scar tissue adheres to the heart and they have to be very careful.

Because he had stents in his legs too, they had to use a vein from the groin area and he's still on the heart pump and ventilator.  They will attempt to remove the pump later today and wake him up.

They woke him around 5am today and asked him questions and he nodded and sqeezed the nurse's hand in agreement.  That was good news.  Mom saw him yesterday not long after surgery and he was responsive to her too.  She is at the hospital now and says they are giving him blood, he is swollen and so far so good.

StepBro is flying in today from California.  Unecessary, but I guess he feels like he needs to be here.  StepDad will be in the ICU area until at least Friday or Saturday.

I remember back in March StepDad was hurting a lot....but they had done the stent and that should have helped.  What we didn't know was that the doc had missed something then.  So since then he's been a walking time bomb!  Thankfully they scheduled this cath and were able to do the surgery....had the stent closed or blocked otherwise while he was home or out on the farm, he would be dead.

I met Bridezilla, er, Cindilouwho at her house and we took 300 pictures!  About 20 in her front yard and the rest were at the beach.  Her daughter and granddaughter came over and I was able to get some nice shots of all of them together.

Then the 2.5 yr old decided to run head on into the waves......her momma yelled for her to stop, but she kept on.  Then the momma ran for her and I started behind her......kid was knocked down by a wave and momma just did grab her in time.

Not before she soaked her gown

She drug the kid outta the water on her butt......scared us all!  Man were we furious with that kid.  I told her later on that she had scared me and almost made me cry.....made her promise to NEVER run into big water again!!  She agreed.....as best a 2.5 yr old can.

Never a dull moment in my world!!!!

Hehehee....Cindylouwho?  As in Dr Suess??

Loved the story...running into the waves is somthing my "no-fear-hyperactive-gotta-love-him-Marc" would have done!  He sure kept me on my toes!!  Some sides have no fear.

Oooppppsss, forgot to say...I didn't know your step-dad was so sick.  Getting thru the surgery and 1st few days is the roughest.   I remember doing dialysis on heart patients who had the heart pumps and ventilators.  It wasn't uncommon for older patients to have temporary  kidney shut down after surgery.  Sounds like he is doing extraordinary well.  Hang in there!!

I'm glad your Stepdad came through it all.  He is a lucky man already having a bypass that many years ago and doing it again.  Hope he recovers quickly.  Take care.
