Lack of Justice

Okay now I’m totally aggravated. We’ve recently had a stripper claim to be raped by athletes at Duke University. Finally the authorities have 2 in custody and are looking for a third. The bail was set at $400,000. Locally we have the story of a 13 year old girl having been raped by a family friend on "3 separate occasions". The bail set for these guys is at $10,000 and they have bonded out of jail.

What is the problem here?? On one hand, we have a "stripper", one who uses her body to make money. (Perhaps this is an unfair comment.) On the other, an innocent 13 year old little girl, a student. Notwithstanding the kidnapping charges, come on…..$400,000 vs. $10,000 for a loss of innocence and a repeated crime???? Where is the justice here? Just because the accused athletes were possibly "stars" in their own field? Is a child’s innocence not worth more than $10,000?? and especially on a repeated offense? Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

I agree with you here on that one!!  Seems very fair.  I don't think a person should be eligable for bail if they are suspected of raping a child.

And there seems to be a problem with 'innocent until proven guilty" in this case, as well.  People are very quick to rush to a judgement when it seems as though the perpetrators are young, affluent athletes.  Granted, no one deserves to be raped and if these men did this then they need to pay the price.  But any woman dumb enough to go by herself to a 'frat house' type situation in order to bump and grind for a paycheck ....well, I don't know.  She doesn't deserve it but my GOD how stupid do you have to be?????
As for that little girl - God help her.  I know that, at times, I can be overwhelmed by these kind of crimes.  The Evil that is in this world today can seem to be too much. But I firmly believe that God permits evil only so that great good may come from it....I don't pretend to know what great good could come from this kind of crime, but that little girl - plus all those involved in the Duke University fiasco - are going to be in my prayers.

My heart just goes out to this little girl.  This is just awful.

In my opinion bail shouldn't even be an option for a child abuser. While there is doubt that they committed a crime against a child they should be locked up. That's my personal opinion.

Unfortunately the Duke story has captured national headlines and the press is running with it.  That means more attention and notoriety and more stories to come.  Justice in this country . . .sometimes I wonder what that is.  Have a great Hump Day tomorrow.

That poor little girl but I do think it has to do with the publicity surrounding the Duke rape charges.  The media has been running with that one.  I agree with you.   HUGS  Chris

I haven`t been following this story too closely, but I sure can`t argue with what you`re saying! Once the media gets a hold of some stories, they just don`t let go.
