My Husband is a Lucky Man

My Husband IS a lucky man.  As a native of this area, I know a lot of people.  I have had the privilege of growing up in a family run retail business where I've come in contact with them all.  And the ones that I don't know, well, I know their family members once removed or their neighbor's sister's mother's husband's dog's ate their plants neighbors that used to live "over yonder".  Even my boss says to me "you know everybody".  Yep.  One way or another, I have crossed paths with many people.

When I got out of High School and entered college and the real work force (JC Penny) boy was that different from the family business.  It teaches you "rules" that are reasonable for the John Q Public's of the world...in the family business, my step-Dad made the rules for sales and returns, etc.  We always acted fair and reasonable.

But that is not why I say my Hubby is so lucky.  I also trained and worked as a paralegal.  I had the opportunity to work through temporary agencies way back when and met a lot of people....worked for the state Senator (his law office not his Senate office).  Met the area's elite crem de la crem....the one's whose family owns 1/2 of the county and the family of the other 1/2....that type of people.   (I currently have a friend in the House of Rep's here.  Doesn't hurt to know some people.)  I went to work for a lawyer friend at his request back in the late 80's.....he had an attorney friend who just happens to be good friends with a local family where I live and he is now also my personal attorney.   He got me divorced, handled miss T's support and eventual termination of parental rights etc and gives me great advise when Tom has really screwed up.  Today as Tom stood in court, this attorney friend of mine, shot Tom!......

........................

.......................with a rubber band! as he was standing at the District Attorney's table!  Now this was a GOOD thing, because court rooms always make Tom edgy...I'm OK with them..been behind the scenes in my day.   As Tom turned to leave, he was greeted by a city officer, another friend of mine as well as the attorney who had just shot him.  At least Tom could come out laughing.  His new court date is June 1 and I'm sure it will be postponed too.  He has an excellent lawyer....the best in his field in this City, and he puts up with my interjections.  I am the type of person you have to "show me" or "prove it" to, so I ask a lot of questions.  Poor Tom.....he gives me the edited versions of conversations and meetings and I want/need to know it ALL!!!!

My Tom says it doesn't matter where we go or where we are, I will always meet someone that I know.  Even this past Dec 30th at Disney I ran into a lady and little girl that performed in the Nutcracker with us!  So beware...........

Definitely you are right that it is very handy to know the right people.  I moved to a small rural area where everybody is either related to each other and most definitely know everybody else.  Too funny about the rubber band...HUGS  Chris

When I lived in NY for so many years, that`s what I missed - seeing old friends! Not sure what the court thing is all about, but I hope it goes well.

It's good to know so many people.  Your life is enriched by each and every one or at least affected in some way.  Hope you have a great week!  GBU, Shelly

I think it's nice to know people in your hometown. Right now about  all I know in this neighborhood is my very next door neighbors on one side and across the street. Thanks for visiting my journal and leaving comments. I have put your journal on my alert list to see what you are up to. Hugs, Helen
